Tillsonburg wins Provincial award for new branding

Tillsonburg, ON – The Town of Tillsonburg received high praise for its new brand program during the recent 60th annual Economic Developers Council of Ontario  (EDCO) Awards Gala.

Close to 60 communities across the province made submissions to the EDCO awards in a variety of categories ranging from promotional pieces to infrastructure development projects. Tillsonburg’s recognition came in the “Branding - 10,000 to 50,000 Population” category. It’s the first time the municipality has taken top honours in any EDCO category.

“As a community, we truly believe in the values of being connected, enriched and inspired,” says Mayor Stephen Molnar. “I’m incredibly proud of all people who collaborated on this project. It was a community-driven process and to be recognized at the provincial level is further evidence of the good work we accomplished together.”

Tillsonburg’s new brandmark and story was developed by ifourone Design after much consultation with the community, and extensive dialogue with local stakeholders and Town staff.

“Participating in EDCO’s Awards Program holds communities to a higher standard throughout the year,” said Christina Kakaflikas, EDCO 2017 President. “Allowing communities to learn about winning projects and the ability to compare efforts maintains the need for excellence across the province and throughout all economic development initiatives.”

“Achieving this level of recognition is a great achievement for our community,” says David Calder, Chief Administrative Officer. “The new brand is simple, modern and visually appealing and we’re pleased that it’s having such resonance.”

The Town is currently in the process of rolling out the new brand across the community. “We’re making great progress,” says Cephas Panschow, Development Commissioner and project manager. “The new brand is an important part of our strategy moving forward. We strongly believe it will help us achieve our goals of attracting talent, trade and tourism in the future.”
