SOPREMA Purchases a Building Site in Woodstock
Drummondville, April 27th, 2017 - SOPREMA, a leading manufacturer of waterproofing, insulation, soundproofing and vegetated solutions for the roofing, building envelope and civil engineering sectors, is continuing its remarkable expansion in recent years with the acquisition of 6.07 hectares (15 acres) of vacant industrial land in Woodstock, Ontario.
The company, founded in Strasbourg, France in 1908, entered the Canadian market in 1978. Today, SOPREMA Canada employs around 500 people in seven manufacturing facilities and ten technical and sales support offices located throughout Canada, including the Research and Development Centre in Drummondville. Considered as a leader in roof waterproofing solutions, SOPREMA decided, a few years ago, to increase its product offering and extend its expertise to other areas, such as insulation production.
“We are really proud to be building a new facility in Ontario,” said Richard Voyer, Vice-President and CEO of SOPREMA North America. “We already have two sales offices in Ontario, but the new plant will allow us to serve our customers better thanks to the outstanding location at the intersection of NAFTA Super Highways 401 and 403, providing great access to customers and labour.”
A building will soon be erected on the 653,400 square foot Woodstock lot acquired by SOPREMA, where the company will undertake its manufacturing activities. Project details will be released by SOPREMA management and its partners in a future announcement. The multinational company, operating in 90 countries with an extensive distribution network, has about 50 production plants and over 6,200 employees worldwide.
